This educational conference is designed for professionals across disciplines who work in addiction treatment and prevention, including physicians, PAs, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, social workers, mental health and substance abuse counselors, recovery coaches, law enforcement, public health workers.

This year's conference will be themed "One Region, One Mission: Integrating Medical and Psychosocial Approaches to Addiction.

Pre-Conference Courses

We will be offering two pre-conference courses, that will take place on Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

Pre-Conference Options:

Substance Use Disorder Bootcamp
10:00 am - 5:00 pm (includes lunch from 12:00 - 1:00 pm)
Pre-Conference Rate: $95 per person

Integrating Addiction Medicine with Treatment Courts Course from ASAM
10:00 am - 3:00 pm (includes lunch from 12:00 - 1:00 pm)
Pre-Conference Rate: $20 per person (This covers the cost of lunch)

This course is designed for medical providers practicing addiction medicine who interact with treatment courts and the justice system. Clinicians will explore the complexities of treating justice-involved individuals and apply practical strategies through case-based learning to enhance collaboration, advocate for evidence-based care, and improve coordination with community resources.

Upon completion, learners will be able to:

  1. Explain the role of timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment for clients/participants first engaging in treatment courts.
  2. Describe the purpose, structure, and effectiveness of treatment courts.
  3. Define the roles and responsibilities of treatment court team members.
  4. Identify ways to partner with treatment courts in your own community.
  5. Communicate with patients about legal involvement in a non-judgmental and non-stigmatizing way.
  6. Discuss the potential benefits and risks of completing release of information for treatment court to receive treatment records.
  7. Describe the roles and responsibilities of medical providers within treatment court settings.
  8. Advocate effectively for access to evidence-based treatment with treatment court team members.
  9. Apply best clinical and partnership practices to case examples of patients who are engaged in treatment court and addiction treatment. 

The target audience for this course includes: physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners who engage with or seek to better understand treatment court systems.

Acknowledgement
ASAM has partnered with the All Rise through an Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) grant initiative to allow medical providers active with and new to the drug treatment court field access to training to help guide them in the successful integration of services for individuals with substance use disorders involved in the justice system.

Call for Presentations - Now Open!

Presentations are now being accepted for the 2025 ASAM Region VI Conference! Visit the Call for Presentations page for full details.

Breakout/Workshop submissions will now be accepted until May 16, 2025. The WISAM 2024 Conference Planning Committee will review all proposals. We estimate that all applicants will be notified of the status of their applications by Mid June.

Poster submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis until July 31, 2025. Applicants will be notified of the status of their application within one month of submission.
